What are microgreens?
Microgreens, the "young green from seed", are on everyone's lips and, thanks to the microgarden, also on your table! The young seedlings taste delicious, look decorative and are rich in vitamins and minerals. The seed develops into a seedling, from which a (sprouting) shoot develops, which continues to grow and after a few days develops microgreens, also known as leafy greens, kale, baby greens or microgreens. It is harvested when it is 2.5 to 7.5 cm in size.
Microgreens are super
Microgreens are considered a nutrient-rich superfood. In addition to essential amino acids, they contain vitamins A, B1, B2, B6 and C. Microgreens taste intense and enrich salads, soups, sandwiches, pizza, pasta, sauces, dips and smoothies with flavors ranging from mild and refreshing to hot and spicy to sweet. The little plants are also extremely decorative as a topping. The eye also eats. You can grow vegetables, cultivated and wild herbs such as cress, coriander, chervil, beans, peas, mustard, broccoli, mint, rocket, red cabbage, radishes, cauliflower, basil, amaranth, fennel, dill and sunflowers. They can be grown conveniently on the windowsill 365 days a year.
No seed capsules necessary
Thanks to the patented planting stone, which serves as a substrate, you no longer need to buy expensive seed pads. Loose seeds cost significantly less than hemp or coconut pads filled with seeds. The microgreens grow directly on the reusable stone. A seed bag is already included so you can get started straight away.
It's that simple
To germinate, the seeds need darkness and high humidity. To do this, cover the micro garden with the optional harvest plate, for example. After a few days, the seedlings need sunlight and can be harvested after 5 to 20 days (depending on the variety and conditions).
Cultivation and harvesting in a cycle
With a second micro garden, you can grow and harvest continuously. After germination, simply swap the bottom tray with the top tray. You can repeat the germination process in the lower tray while the seedlings in the upper tray are already receiving light and growing. This enables a continuous cultivation cycle. When the seeds in the lower tray have also germinated, you can separate the two trays.
Patented planting stone
A new feature is the cultivation of microgreens on our patented planting stone. Previously, soil, coconut or hemp mats were used to grow microgreens. This is of course not sustainable, as these substrates can only be used once. There is also a risk of mold growth and odor development due to waterlogging. The planting stone is made of the patented Porosium® ceramic. It absorbs a lot of water and releases it again in doses. Sprinkled seeds are provided with ideal germination conditions and sprouts remain moist without any wet "feet". As the stone stores water and supplies itself with water, hardly any care is required. After harvesting, the roots can be easily removed and the stone simply disinfected with hot water. It is then ready for use again. It couldn't be more sustainable.
