Lye pearls for pretzel lye pretzel biscuits

Supplied sealed in a food-safe polybag. Use with protective gloves (e.g. disposable gloves - latex, nitrile or natural rubber).

If used properly, handling the lye is no problem at all.

It can be used several times and simply diluted and poured down the sink.
Pipe cleaner contains the lye in an even higher concentration.

We use this product to make our lye corners.

Use of the lye:

Put on safety goggles and protective gloves
First add the water, then the lye beads - dissolve 30 to 40 g of lye beads in one liter of water - in a plastic container.
Freeze the dough piece a little so that it becomes firm.
Briefly dip the dough piece and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
Allow the dough to cook and bake.

Caution - the lye attacks metals - so be sure to use baking paper or trays specially designed for lye.

The reaction of solid NaOH with water generates a lot of heat. Therefore, always add the water first and then the NaOH, never the other way round.
