Demeter wheat whole grain 1 kg

You can grind the wheat grains yourself into flour or meal. Freshly ground wheat is relatively difficult to bake, but still contains many valuable ingredients. If the wheat is stored for several weeks, its baking properties improve and the baked goods become larger and fluffier. In conventional milling, the flour is treated with ascorbic acid to shorten this "flour ripening" of the wheat. However, it is not necessary for the flour to be stored; we personally process the wheat fresh for breads. For bread rolls and Dresden Christmas Stollen, however, it is essential that the wheat flour is allowed to mature.

Our wheat grains have been cleaned very gently and are therefore able to germinate. In addition, our wheat is not dried after harvesting, or if it is, it is dried very gently. Improper drying at too high a temperature can result in a loss of germination. Poor quality wheat is often sold (rarely to bakers). You can also use our wheat grains to grow sprouts or wheat grass. Wheat grass can be used for smoothies or as cat grass.

You can use a sprouting jar to produce wheat sprouts. It is important that the wheat does not get warmer than 20 °C during germination to avoid the formation of mold. An ambient temperature of around 15 °C is therefore ideal for sprouts.

Instructions for sprouting wheat

Soak the wheat grains in water for about 12 hours
Then rinse again and place in the sprouter
Rinse 2 to 3 times a day with fresh water
Germination time is about 2 to 3 days
Sprouts can be eaten as soon as the sprout is about 4 mm long.
